Jay Jays - which is a fashion retailer had recently their new line of the ‘Little Losers clothing’. The funny thing is those t-shirts are mainly worn by teenagers and they play on the Mr Men characters featuring slogans such as Miss Bitch, Mr Asshole, Mr Well Hung, Miss Floozy and Mr Drunk!!! And sold as cool and trendy reflecting the teenage rebellion.
Now I believe the outrage was a justified reaction caused by this line to parents who were calling to pull the ‘lewd’ t-shirts.
I think this is far away from being trendy! I mean how would someone walk in the streets wearing such a t-shirt feel proud, cool or good about it!! seriously!
Though I must admit that this would make a really nice gift if sent to certain people with attitude problems..!
Some of the shirts may reflect teenage rebellion, but I think what many critics have failed to miss is that shirts are a stab at the celebrity culture thrown upon them by the media.
The shirts pictured above aren’t endorsing the behaviour, they are mocking just how stupid such behaviour really is. They are a slap in the face to the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears (or miscellaneous other drunk celeb).
If the slogans didn’t have a contradictory statement behind them, it would be like wearing a t-shirt that reads “I’m Cool.” .

umm.. this is a good point! I personally didn’t think of it this way.. and Im sure the outraged parents didn’t too.. but still i don’t think it’s the right thing to sell teenagers even if it has a hidden message.. but thank you for your comment and welcome here :)
I think Michael’s reading too much into it. I think it’s just another aspect of the debasement of culture, of the devaluing of people, especially girls, into nothing more than sex toys, or objects of contempt. I wish I had a daughter so that I could forbid her to wear such things. ;-)
LOL! I am not sure I am convinced with Mike’s interpretation, but who would walk around with a Miss Bitch t-shirt? It is an insult to people’s intelligence; people wearing it AND people reading it.
Whatever your opinion, I think Marvin sums it up best: “I wish I had a daughter so that I could forbid her to wear such things.”
It’s a matter for the parent to decide for their own children, not mine or your children.
Um…if the parents are so outraged, why not stop their teens from buying and wearing the T-shirts? No need to pull the T-shirts off the market, but those who ARE offended can stop their OWN teens from wearing them… right???
Like you said, the T-shirts are pretty silly. I don’t see how they are cool either!
I guess the reason why they were asking to pull the T-shirts off the market, because it is a ‘teen’s targeting market’. So it’s like how can there be anything good from selling them?!
